David van Dellen pursued training in General Surgery in the West Midlands and Manchester having qualified originally from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa.
He was appointed as a Consultant General Surgeon at the Manchester Royal Infirmary in 2012.
He has a large regional practice in hernia and General Surgery, both open and laparoscopically.
He receives referrals from throughout the UK and has published and lectured extensively on the subject internationally. He also has a full time research portfolio, specifically with respect to complex hernia surgery.
He has strong education interests and is Training Programme Director for General Surgery in the Northwest.
He enjoys running (including marathons) and spending time with his wife and 3 children.
