Manchester Surgical Services is pleased to confirm that we are compliant with the Department of Health’s policy to eliminate mixed-sex accommodation, except when it is in the patient’s overall best interest or reflects their personal choice.
Sharing with members of the opposite sex will only happen for clinical necessity in areas such as the post-operative recovery suite, high dependency or critical care. Patients nursed in this area will be moved as soon as the requirement for enhanced nursing is no longer required, and the patient will return to a single sex accommodation area.
Compliance for this measure is monitored monthly through the Department of Health.
